5 Key Players Erik Ten Hag Manchester United Should Sign in the Summer
Statman Dave and Fabrizio Romano Looked At 5 Key Players Erik Ten Hag Manchester United Should Sign in the Summer, and thye came to the conclusion that a new left back would be smart.
Neither Luke Shaw or Alex Telles have made that position their own so a progressive left back should be considered and Marc Cucurella would be a great acquisition. Extremely versatile, his schooling at La Masia has made him very well suited to Potter’s progressive, possession based style whilst his experience as a wide midfielder has made him very comfortable in wide areas. Cucurella would fit perfectly into Ten Hag’s style. Offering the best progressive play out of all of Manchester United full backs whilst remaining defensively solid and secure,
There is No way Ten Hag will start without a left footed CB, he always had in his squad. He will definitely be looking for Timer, Torres or Bastoni in the market.
Next up, Manchester United need major midfield reinforcements with Nemanja Matic and Paul Pogba both leaving Man Utd’s midfield severely depleted. Sergej Milinkovic-Savic would be a fantastic addition. A physical specimen with fantastic technical attributes, Milinkovic-Savic is also incredibly two footed. For Ten Hag, Milinkovic-Savic is a natural replacement for Ryan Gravenberch in his system. More physically imposing and athletic but just as technically gifted, the Lazio man is more suited to Premier League football right now. Meanwhile his size and aerial strength would somewhat make up for Jurrien Timber’s short stature when defending set pieces.
The fourth player on this list is probably the most important reinforcement: defensive midfield.
A number of players have been linked to this position: Declan Rice, Kalvin Phillips, Ibrahim Sangaré and even Frenkie De Jong but the guy I think United should take a look at is: Cheick Doucouré. A talented deep-lying playmaker, Cheick Doucouré is very good at progressing the play. He tends to operate as the deepest midfielder, often receiving off the defenders and working the ball to more advanced players. With the ideal temperament to anchor Ten Hag’s midfield but the technical ability and composure to progress the play, Cheick Doucoure would be a cheap but very effective defensive midfielder for Manchester United.

Signing another centre tactical forward is more important right now. Sometimes it seems like United don’t really do scouting, but our youth team recruits well, so it seems our first team scouts have been ignored, but surely now is the time to sign some players like Sangare considering the amount of players we need.
As impressive as Cristiano Ronaldo has been, he was clearly at his best when playing just one game a week and his most impressive displays came after being sidelined. Because of this I think Nkunku would be a great option to rotate alongside the Portuguese icon. Meanwhile when Ronaldo starts, Nkunku could shift to the left wing or even to number 10 to accommodate both into the starting eleven. With 51 goal involvements in just 52 appearances for RB Leipzig this season, Manchester United would be signing one of the form players in the world right now who could find another gear under Erik Ten Hag.
Manchester United will probably lose more players to big clubs like they did with Frenkie DeJong, but they might find some players willing to take a risk on a mid-table club trying to rebuild.

Jadon Sancho Learns Breaking News on His Future Under Ten Hag
Man Utd Winger Jadon Sancho Learns Breaking News on His Future Under Ten Hag
Erik ten Hag might do well to listen to Ralf Rangnick’s warning on Manchester United’s Jadon Sancho.
Team Talk sources say Jadon Sancho hopes that incoming Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag can make his career take off following a mixed debut season.
The 22-year-old arrived at Old Trafford last summer in a big-money move from Borussia Dortmund. However, he has not enjoyed as smooth a transition as he would have liked.
Following a sub-par season, the Red Devils have squandered their hopes of a top-four Premier League finish.
Jadon Sancho arrived with great expectations, having scored and assisted a total of 114 goals in 137 Dortmund appearances.
However, he has only managed five goals and three assists in his 38 outings so far. The troubles at the club including the change of manager have not helped.
Ten Hag has joined United on a three-year contract with the option of an additional year. The Dutchman will be faced with inspiring improvement out of the squad he’s inherited and that includes Sancho, who is yet to find consistency at United.
Sancho joined United for £73million in the summer, but he failed to hit the ground running following his return to Manchester. Sancho has contributed five goals and three assists from 38 appearances for United last season, looking a shadow of the player who set the Bundesliga alight.
Rangnick was asked about Sancho’s form in January and he advised that the player will come good with more confidence. The former interim manager also discussed the level of expectation that Sancho was burdened with at United, compared to when he was in Germany.
“There is a difference if you come as an 18 year-old [he was 17 at the time], unknown, talented English boy to Borussia Dortmund,” Rangnick said. “From then you can only improve, make a success out of that.
“The level of expectation was a lot lower compared to the situation where you come at the age of 23 [he is now 21] – you come to a club like Manchester United for a high transfer fee, with a high level of expectation.
Before building back up, you have to tear it down first. United are taking this strategy on board, releasing a number of veterans clogging up squad space and the wage bill.
Nemanja Matic, Juan Mata, Paul Pogba, Lee Grant, Edinson Cavani, Jesse Lingard have all been released, six players with an average age of 33. This cuts an estimated £44.8 million off the annual wage bill.
It would have been so easy for United to get this wrong. To get suckered into overpaying to keep Pogba, to try to convince Matic to stay due to a lack of other options, or to get sentimental and try to keep Mata around.
United have made the right call with all six players, and they won’t be the only ones departing this summer. It shows the intent, to start ripping up the squad after an unacceptable season.

Man Utd Boss on the Verge of Announcing the Arrival of £70 Million Star
Man Utd Boss Ten Hag on the verge of Announcing the Arrival of £70 Million Star Frenkie de Jong from Barca.
That’s according to reports that state that the Dutchman, who took charge of the Red Devils last month, wants to rebuild his squad starting with the central midfield, following issues in the middle of the park last season.
Ten Hag’s former Ajax general, Frenkie de Jong, according to Spanish outlet Sport(opens in new tab), is on the brink of joining for almost £70 million.
Paul Pogba is now certain to leave Old Trafford, with the club having confirmed the exit of their record signing. Scott McTominay, Fred and Bruno Fernandes have all struggled this season too, Donny van de Beek ended last campaign on loan with Everton, while Nemanja Matic looks set to relink with Jose Mourinho on a free transfer. Juan Mata was also released.
Ten Hag knows De Jong well though, having worked with him, Donny and Hakim Ziyech at Ajax. De Jong was a key starter for the Amsterdammers when they made their famous run to the semi-finals of the Champions League in 2019, agreeing to leave the Eredivisie for Barcelona halfway through the season.
The new Red Devils manager even used the player as a central defender alongside Daley Blind during his time managing at the Johan Cruyff Arena, using his ability to evade pressure and dribble out of the backline.
De Jong is valued at £54m by Transfermarkt(opens in new tab).
New Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has been speaking to the press as he takes control of the Red Devils. The 52-year-old has confirmed that Cristiano Ronaldo remains a part of his plans heading into next season, while suggesting that he may need patience to transform Old Trafford in his image.
There could be plenty of incomings: Frenkie de Jong remains a key target at £67.5m, while Raphinha of Leeds is on the radar. Jurrien Timber is one name heavily linked, while United are long-term admirers of Lazio man Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.
One slightly leftfield potential buy would be Christian Eriksen from Brentford, who is out of contract following the end of the season.
Recruitment has been Manchester United’s biggest struggle over the past decade, and it is an area which could provide the biggest early win for Ten Hag if the club get it right.
Players who sign must fit the team’s needs, fit Ten Hag’s approach, and be suited for the Premier League. It sounds obvious, but United have frequently failed to sign players who fit the manager, team, and league they are coming into.
Work is ongoing to sign new players, and it would be crucial if United can bring in a new face or two before going out on pre-season tour.
Midfield has to be the top priority for United after releasing Pogba and Matic, while an additional striker is also going to be key.
Ten Hag will also want to fix a defence which conceded 58 league goals last season. Fresh faces are going to be important to enabling an overhaul.
