When Last Did Arsenal Win the Premier League Trophy (Title)?
Manchester United and Mikel Arteta Gunners are FLYING this season: Is Erik ten Hag’s side Premier League TITLE CONTENDERS? SportsFila.com recap Arsenal’s EPL title chances and Man United’s scintillating form as of late under Erik ten Hag.
When last did Arsenal win the Premier League trophy?
London giants Arsenal Fc last won the Premier League title in 2003/04, gaining 90 points over the course of 38 games without losing a single match.
The club has won a total of 13 league titles (including one unbeaten title), a record 14 FA Cups, two League Cups, 16 FA Community Shields, one European Cup Winners’ Cup, and one Inter-Cities Fairs C.
Arsene Wenger’s greatest triumph came in 2003/04 when his side became the first since Preston in 1888/89 to complete an entire top flight league season without losing a game.
Ten Hags comment “all eras come to an end” haunted me from the day he said that.. Liverpool hadn’t looked the same, now City faltering and Brighton and Arsenal are flying.
Man utd last premier league title
Manchester United last won the Premier League in the 2012-13 season under Sir Alex Ferguson. That means that the Red Devils last won the Premier League title about 10 years ago.
This long title drought will have been compounded by the fact that city rivals, Manchester City, claimed the Premier League trophy 4 times in the past 5 seasons.
Man U are not title ready, but just to be near the top 2 right now, sets the precedent for a push next season and then season 3 goes after the title.
I know we’re the biggest club in England, and people will always have an eye on us. But I wish we can have a run like Newcastle, off the radar and no one talks about us.
The one glaring issue with United is that if any of their starting XI get injured through the remaining half of the season, things can change VERY quickly. If Bruno, Casemiro, Rashford, Varane, Martinez, Eriksen, or even De Gea go down, they aren’t very deep (in terms of equal talent) at many positions.
As a United fan, I’m cautiously optimistic, as I don’t think anyone is catching Arsenal and United just need to focus on top-4, not trying to go all out for the title. I’d rather them win a cup and secure top-4 and be done with it, so they can go big in the summer to bring in quality reinforcements to challenge for the title and CL next season.
Premier League titles in Arsenal’s history
The Gunners have won three Premier League titles since the current inception of the league in 1992, all coming in the first 12 years of the league’s existence.
Let’s not get carried away, as well as the team has been performing, it is important to remind ourselves that they are still in a process and have not yet reached the proper levels of being champions. I’m not saying we shouldn’t be feeling optimistic, we should but there are things within their match performances that still need further tweaking.
Stop this over-confidence. Everytime Manchester United pick up form, this kind of narrative emerges. This has been the case for years. But to answer the question, no; Manchester United are still far from competing for the league title. Just let Manchester United do their thing in peace.
They are nowhere near title talk – Gary Neville predicts position Arsenal will finish.
Manchester United legend, Gary Neville, has said that a top-three finish for Arsenal this season would be sensational, insisting that they should be “nowhere near title talk” at the moment.
Recall that Arsenal narrowly missed out on UEFA Champions League football last season after finishing in the fifth position.
The Gunners wre eight points ahead of Manchester City after their 0-0 draw with Newcastle on Tuesday night

The Arsenal vs Man Utd rivalry is back in full force. Let’s have a decade of them fighting for the title.
Thierry Henry 🗣️ – “I am happy that Arsenal won and they deserved to win after their performance in the second half but boy Man United look completely different under ten Hag. I will be honest, I am a big fan of ten Hag and I like him very much. He is the coach I recommended to Laporta after Koeman got sacked at Barca. He is a genius. Today we saw a team with three years of development against a team with six months of development, also a team with one week of rest against a team with two days of rest yet still Man United went toe-to-toe which for me was surprising.
I thought Arsenal would be all over United from the kick off and United players would sit back but I was wrong, United in fact had better control of the ball in the first half. You give one more year to ten Hag and back him in the market, United will be a force to reckon with. No disrespect to Sir Alex but if ten Hag gets it right at United, they will play more attractive football than they played under Sir Alex Ferguson.” [ CBS Sports & Amazon Prime ]
It’s OVER For These Manchester United Players! (NOT GOOD ENOUGH
I don’t think United was ever really serious in a title race but the fact that people have even been talking about it (even if it only lasted a week) shows the improvements Ten Hag has made. With better squad depth and more time to train with Ten Hag’s style of play, we could be back to united and arsenal both regularly challenging for the league and champions league.
Saw a couple stats after the game…Arsenal had 63 touches in the Manchester United box in the match. No side has had as many in a single Premier League game in 2022-23 so far. Manchester United only had 12 themselves.
The difference of 51 touches in the opposition box between Arsenal (63) and Man Utd (12) has only been higher in one Premier League game this season:
53 difference in Man City (56) 4-0 Southampton (3) back in October. I think all of that is quite damning, regardless of us having McTominay instead of Casemiro to shield the back line. I do agree that Martinez and Varane coped well once they did penetrate the box but the fullbacks and midfield didn’t do enough to keep the likes of Saka and Martinelli quiet.
Gary Neville thinks Arsenal will finish third in the Premier League table this season with Manchester City and Manchester United finishing above them.
The Gunners are currently five points ahead of second-placed City and a further six points clear of Newcastle United and Man United in third and fourth.
Arsenal have a game in hand on all their rivals but they do still have to play Pep Guardiola’s men twice in the league before the end of the season.
Crusader: United have definitely improved based on results this season but I barely saw United do anything in this game. Underlying stats says it all. ETH said he had plans, but didn’t see any plans. Ofcourse the players didn’t/couldn’t execute it for the whole 90 as they played a mid week game which is understandable but It seemed just like the end of the Ole days, scoring both goals by opposition errors as opposed to creating or counter pressing.
Considering the scoreline, I know some fans and neutrals believe United was one of the tougher tests Arsenal have had so far. I didn’t think they were, ETH even pushed for a draw towards the end which makes me feel that he thought they were fortunate to be level based on that performance, but this clearly shows they are not there yet as a team to compete and remain consistent in the era of 90 point league winning squads.
Credit to ETH for getting a feel good factor around the club and the fans. Getting results against multiple top sides in his first season is impressive. They are nailed on for top 4 this season thanks to Liverpool and Chelsea being shut. He’s a top coach and is going to do greater things in the future.

Licha and Varane to win Trophies for Man U
Lisandro Martinez was a warrior against Arsenal. To score that goal with his height in a crowded box took great skill. We will win trophies with him and Varane in defense.
The Gunners took the lead courtesy of Bukayo Saka, but United responded back with a towering goal from Martinez.
The Argentine was the standout player for United throughout the game.
In his post-match interview, he spoke about how the team must pick themselves up and move on.
“We are disappointed because we wanted to win the match.”
“We have to raise our heads and keep fighting. It’s hard, but that’s how it is. You have to be strong. We have to also learn from it. This can’t happen again.”
Licha’s strength and courage is to be commended! He is one of the players who gives his life for the club! And there aren’t many players like that anymore…
Made old Trafford a fortress, made rashy a world-class player, casually proceeded to push the best team in the PL to the 90th without Casemiro and Martial whom we all know would’ve been immense if he were fit, all in 6 months. I’m excited to see Ten hag’s team in 3 years. My Manager…..trust the process.
This just shows the importance of Casemiro and lack of our options upfront, only Rashford is of the highest level at the moment. Top4 will be a significant success for Ten Hag with this squad. That was the hardest game till the end of the season and we’ve barely lost, so don’t worry and keep going!
“It was not the end we wanted, but definitely no time to feel too down. Heads up and we go again together for the next one, come on United!!! 👹🔴 Nice to score my first goal, thanks once again for the fantastic away support! 🙌🏼 #mufc #arsmun”
Chris Silvester: I have to say this has to be one of the best games all season in the Prem. It was real end to end with passion with commitment flying tackles and some cracking goals as well.
We didn’t get the result in the end & Arsenal deserved to win but we pretty much matched them right up till the last 10-15 mins when Arsenal just peppered us & ultimately ended up scoring a last minute winner which was extremely gutting but I can’t be too angry cos us United fans can see the incredible job Ten Hag is doing the vast improvement we’re seeing but like Ten Hag said we’ve still got alot to improve on.
Our aim is to finish in the top 4 & win a cup then in the summer under new owners invest where we need to get better depth then have a real crack at the Prem next year as I fully believe Ten Hag is the man to bring success back to United. Martinez was an absolute beast

Arsenal vs Manchester United EPL title decider
The best thing about the premier league is that anything can happen, and there are still another 19 games to play. No doubt this is one of the biggest games of the year, but I don’t think it’s a title decider with all the teams being so close and so and so many games left to play.
I don’t care what anyone says ,United and Arsenal will always be the face of the premier league …having an elite arsenal and United competing for titles is better for the league than laughing at them finishing mid-table.
More points to play for but there is no team in the league that looks like they can catch Arsenal. Even City, they look vulnerable at the back and in some areas on the flanks.
People keep saying Arsenal have to play City twice, how about City have to play Arsenal twice? Whilst City are an outstanding team so is this Arsenal team, City are still favorites but Arsenal almost beat them last season at the Emirates & they’re a completely different beast now! I reckon both teams will beat each other at their home grounds!
There is still a lot of football left to play, but at least Arsenal have turned up the same with United, making a fight of it, at least it won’t be a boring title race!
How many times have Man U beat Arsenal?
Ahead of this weekend’s massive clash between Arsenal & Man Utd, we take a look at the impressive job done by both managers – and decide who inherited the worst squaD.
CHRIS SUTTON’S PREDICTION
I always have a sneaky feeling for Manchester United in games like this, with Marcus Rashford so good on the counter-attack and Bruno Fernandes and Christian Eriksen having the eye for the pass that would put him through.
On the flip side, I just wonder how much Wednesday’s draw against Palace will have taken out of Erik ten Hag’s side, who will be missing the suspended Casemiro in midfield too.
As I said on the Monday Night Club on Radio 5 Live, United’s biggest issue at present is managing expectation, because after winning nine games in a row some of their fans started to think they are title contenders again.
Yes, they have found some consistency with their performance levels but it is Arsenal who have set the standard this season, with 15 wins and only one defeat in their first 18 league games.
This will be a great game to watch because of United’s threat on the break, but Arsenal are at home and they are playing like they believe they can beat anyone at the moment.
Arteta came in mid-season when Arsenal were 11th and had a backline of Leno, David Luiz, Mustafi, Sokratis, Bellerin and Kolasinac. Midfield of old Xhaka, Torreira and washed Ozil. Aubameyang was class at the time but Lacazette was not as clinical as he used to be.
Ten Hag came in after Man Utd had finished 6th and already had a wealth of talent already at the club. They just weren’t being used properly. Ronaldo, Fernandes, Rashford, Varane, Shaw, Sancho and De Gea. And Ten Hag got to spend £210 million straight away as well as having a pre-season. It genuinely isn’t close as to who had a harder job.
Absolutely Arteta! I commend Ten Hag for how quickly he has turned things around but I don’t think he inherited a bad squad… Just one low on confidence with a lack of direction missing one key component which was a midfield general (Casemiro). Arteta inherited a bad squad with all of the above!
