Head coach Erik ten Hag is too focused on mainly Dutch players to Rebuild Manchester United. English Premier League club Man Utd are trying to sign Netherlands left-back Tyrell Malacia, Christian Eriksen, Frenkie De Jong, and Jurrien Timber.
Ten Hag is eager to sign players who will fit for his strategy, so it doesn’t matter if they’re Dutch, Brazilians, or maybe Africans as long as they are not overated English players namely Harry maguire, Jack Grealish, or Declan Rice,
Give ETH his respect to achieve what he intends to. Football was invented long before the premier league, and truly is a global game.
It’s actually pretty smart to buy some top players from the eredivisie or french league for instance, rather then overpriced englishmen from the premier league or la Liga. I think that was the whole problem the past few years. 15 million euros is an absolute bargain and no brainer for a 22 year old dutch international Malacia.

Many Dutch managers have always signed dutch players. LVG and Cruyff did it at every club they were at. If the dutch players are good, they will perform. It’s true that it’s not a Strong League, but sometimes when a player struggles, it doesn’t always translate to the notion that it’s because they came from an Inferior league or that the Players are bad Players. Sometimes it’s about the system. According to ESPN’s Mark Ogden’s logic, Premier League Clubs should only sign players from La Liga because it’s on par with the Premier.
I don’t think Ogden has ever played football before.
Arsène Wenger had a lot of success with Dutch players over the years. It’s all about the system, Wenger’s Arsenal were soft, but they were a joy to watch, that was during a time when the prem was even more physical than it’s today. A lot of so called weak players have thrived under Pep’s system in recent years, David Silva as a perfect example.
Erik is interested in DUTCH league players like Antony and Malacia who are going to be receptive to his ideas, they are coachable .
More reasons why Ten Hag is concentrating on Dutch (league) players
Frenkie de Jong is a no brainer, he is the most important player in the Dutch team and he has the athleticism and engine to cope with the PL. I think the dynamics and spaces of the PL might actually suit him better than the more static game in Spain and at Barca in particular. He is nothing like Donny, I never understood that they paid so much for him.
Malacia is a talented player and he has the tenacity that a lot of players from Holland lack. At the price that is quoted, I can understand them going for that.
De Jong to Manchester United Transfer
Timber is a great talent, but he needs one or two years to be ready for the absolute top tier that ManU aspire.. Martinez is a good player, but he is short and not lightning fast. how he would cope with the intensity and power of PL strikers? He had a good last season, but the season before, Ten Hag hardly played him at Ajax. Anthony Matheus is a fun player to watch but i am not sure about his overall effectiveness. I guess you could compare him to Raphinha, but at least Raphinha has been in the PL already.
Mr. Bombaz disagrees with Mark Ogden very much especially on players coming from Dutch League. They’ve struggled with the physicality in the beginning. Nevermind the Van Persie’s and many more Dutch greats that graced the PL, Ji Sung Park like Donny is, was getting knocked off the ball all the time, but then transformed after over a year struggling in the League , he became a player trusted in the hardest games. Every Manager taps into their expertise and that’s one of their own, they would have better Intel and understanding of players from their home countries or former leagues where they saw these players more.

If he will fail, Man U have ton of failures already, his will not be the first one, if he will succeed that is something to look forward to. Be excited and enjoy this news, he is fabulous player, we should be excited to watch him play for United. Every transfer is a risk, enjoy the occasion and don’t get frustrated about future. Barca selling FDJ right now would only allow them to spend one third of any money saved in wages and any proceeds from the sale because they don’t yet comply with FFP rules.
De jong has like 4 goals and 5 assists across 47 games for Barcelona..He’s a talented player but Man UTD need a lot more than that from him if Frenkie is not to flop at Old Trafford.
The amount of time it took for the deal to go through has already reignited and further the toxicity that existed at Manchester. That is intangible and hard to quantify but the damage is already been done. Money isn’t everything, in short.
Here is why Frenkie de Jong will not flop Man Utd like Pogba
There’s no similarity between Pogba and De Jong joining United and not fitting in. Frenkie already knows Ten Hag’s system inside out and was specifically sought after by the manager while bad boy Pogba was bought because he’s a good player among other reasons.
De jong is a good player and chance creator. He is more of an attacking cm. But to miss out on quality strikers until they get De Jong signed, hmm, perhaps Ten Hag’s reign is not off to a stellar start, at least transfer wise.

He would probably be a deep Lying Midfielder that can pass and play defense positionally, De Jong wants the ball deep from the back. Just like Carrick did. De Jong will play more of 6 OR 8 further up the pitch.

Saying FDJ can’t play CDM is just stupid. He has played great when he played 6 but struggled more when he played at 10.
FDJ would be a massive improvement in United’s midfield but he’s better as an 8, not a 6, so United will still need a 6 to play along side him. My hope is that ETH can coach McTominay into becoming that player but I’m a skeptical.
If Frenkie wants to play deeper and receive the ball deeper – there will be absolutely no conflict/competition. Fred doesn’t typically come deep, McTominay hides from receiving the ball from defenders – so there is no issue as there was with Busquests at Barcelona. The only point which was (kind of) legitimate was FdJ’s defensive capabilities, but I’m relatively confident that one of Fred/McTominay can pick up the physical slack.

When Bruno drifts forward, he can move in to the opening on the left and de Jong can do the defensive work with a great CDM; you would expect a left sided player in a 3 man midfield. They also need TO SIGN Douglas Luiz or Konrad Laimer to play as more of an anchor in that midfield who’s simply there to sit back and break up play.

Manchester United need a proper DM like Casemiro or Kante to be paired with FDJ and attacking midfielder Bruno Ferandes.
De jong’s ability to glide across the midfield is insane being; it will be sad for him to leave Barca because the amount of times he comes on from the bench, he just changes everything, he is always on the ball and he’s very intelligent. if Manchester United manage to get him, he will surely be one of the best players in their squad regardless.
Frenkie De Jong is the best addition for Man Utd this summer. He’ll improve their build up and by keeping possession, there are less transitions which is good for Ronaldo. Just put Bruno as a playmaker on the wing and Donny as the one making runs off the ball and lead the press from the no 10 position.

F. De Jong solves a lot of midfield issues. And I wonder if Ten Haag is prioritising deep playmakers over ball winners as he wants to see if he can put Fred or Mctominay in those roles. The lack of ability to press from the front will still be an issue if he plans to play Ronaldo, Sancho, Bruno + a RW. Difficult to solve without replacing a big name.
