Here are 7 Biggest Manchester United Transfer Flops Of All Time: Sancho, Pogba, Maguire, Antony, Alexis Sanchez, Veron, and Memphis Depay.

#Sancho #ManUtd #Pogba Alexis Sanchez is just one of the worst signings Manchester United have made but we’ve easily managed to list 6 more flops at Old Trafford.
These days, Man United are a shadow of their glorious selves from the nineties and noughties. But could that be because of some disastrous moves in the transfer market? Of course there have been SOME successes, but there have been a whole boat load of DISASTERS, meaning United have seen good.

1. Sancho: Man United Greatest Transfer Flop Of All Time

Man Utd trio ‘told’ Sancho to ‘end feud’ after £73m flop was given clear ‘ultimatum’ by Ten Hag

According to reports, three Manchester United players have ‘told’ Jadon Sancho to ‘swallow his pride’ and ‘end his feud’ with manager Erik ten Hag.

Jadon Sancho to leave Man Utd

The winger is facing an uncertain future after he butted heads with Ten Hag earlier this month.

After omitting him from United’s squad to face Arsenal, Ten Hag claimed that his absence was due to his poor training performance. Sancho did not respond positively to this claim as the England international took to social media to suggest that he has been made to be a “scapegoat”.

Money go out of the window for very little in return.

It’s not gonna end this soon, but at least I wanna see a Manchester United that’s a joy to watch. Seems like Ole was on the right path, but he had been given too much to deal with. Signing players is one thing, but he needed to build a team of the players he has. All these signings showed one thing – qualities don’t matter if the teamwork is out.

Antony is another flop, he has had his fair share of bad games but as said eth can develop all our players and we will see mutiple improvements in Antony’s game.

2. Memphis Depay – £25m from PSV, 2015

Signed for £25m, big things were expected of Memphis Depay, but he failed to deliver upon his promise during his short spell at the club.

Given the famous No.7 jersey, the shirt weighed heavy on Memphis’s shoulders, and he scored just two Premier League goals in his only full campaign at the club.

4 Major Reasons Why Players Flop At Manchester United

Amid complaints of a lack of entertainment he was dismissed and replaced by Jose Mourinho” That’ll sort that problem 😂

Okay now you’re overstating things. Sancho and anthony are flops a little overpaid and even AWB is has gotten much much better now. Sancho just had a few great games and this is only anthony’s first season and he’s young

Di maria is an overrated flop at man unitd; and then went to farmers league and people compare him to ozil. Ozil came to arsenal and ended their trophy drought and won 8 trophies with arsenal. While dimaria farmed his trophies at psg

3. Alexis Sanchez – SWAP from Arsenal, 2018

Involved in perhaps the worst swap deal in history, Alexis Sanchez arrived in Manchester as one of the Premier League’s biggest talents, and left as a failure.

Beloved at Arsenal, Alexis never produced the same form after making his long-awaited move to Old Trafford.

He scored just three Premier League goals in his 18 months at the club, and joined Inter on a free transfer, after his loan spell there, in 2020.

Di Maria also failed to impressed due to Van Gaal’s lack of ability to adapt to the kind of players he has. He did the same thing with Riquelme at Barcelona and so many more, wanting to play them in positions they never have before. Is not strange he never won any big titles as a coach (don’t tell me Wining Bundesliga with Bayern or La Liga with Barcelona are big achievements)

4. Antony – £85 from Ajax, 2022, Man Utd Big Transfer Flop Of All Time

Antony joined Man Utd in the summer of 2022, representing a signing that Erik ten Hag had tried really hard to push through.

Ajax did not want to sell, so the price for the winger was raised and Man Utd ended up spending a little more than they bargained for.

Why €100M Antony dos santos Man United Deal is Worth It

The only manager that was capable of bringing United to the top & compete with Guardiola (because he’s proved it before) was Mourinho and ironically he got the LEAST backing. Was getting pelted by the media and the final straw was a narrow defeat to Liverpool.

Ten Hag ironically who is getting the most praise hasn’t won away from home against the top 10 and lost 7-0 to liverpool and conceded 6 to City. Ten Hag also trys to play the same counter attacking style that Mourinho played, but seemingly doesn’t have the tactical strength to pull it off.

They defend and when they have the ball they don’t know how to transition unlike Mourinho’s team.
Only 2 managers have ever beat Guardiola to a league title: Klopp & Mourinho, one manages your rival, and the other you sacked after you failed to back him. Unbelievably incompetent board.

5. Harry Maguire – £80m from Leicester, 2019

Harry Maguire became the most expensive defender – and centre-back – in football history when he joined Man Utd from Leicester in the summer of 2019.

Harry Maguire is Manchester United Biggest Flop of the Century

The recruitment towards the end of SAF’s era was subpar. Many talented players who could have had successful careers at Old Trafford, such as Silva and Aguero, ended up at City. Additionally, there was a persistent reluctance to invest in a quality central midfielder during that period. While Scholes was exceptional, Manchester United had the resources to acquire one or even two replacements but chose not to do so. Also, when Gill departed along with SAF, it resulted in Woodward taking charge.

6. Sebastian Veron: Another worst Manchester United Transfer Flop Of All Time

It pains SportsFila to include Seba in this list.

He has now retired at the age of 37. He is one of the most sublimely talented footballers I have ever seen in 55 years.

Fergie and I have an Achilles heel. We love such players. Imagine what it is like being able to own and manage one even for only a few yea

Mourinho criticized United’s transfer policy over 6 yrs ago and proved to everyone how terrible it was And yet absolutely nothing has changed since then. It’s comical how random lower league teams have more through transfer planning than a multi billion dollar club

He had the best season and highest points tally post sir Alex and Yet he is still hated

Solskjaer could’ve had better results had he been trusted more and had better transfers. He took one of the weakest United sides in the 19-20 season to a respectable 3rd place against a very strong Liverpool and city teams. His caretaker period was also quite impressive with over 14 games undefeated with a bunch of underperforming players.

 7. Pogba – £89m from Juventus, 2016: Most Expensive Manchester United Transfer Flop Of All Time

After leaving United on a Bosman in 2012, Paul Pogba developed into one of the best midfielders in the world at Juventus.

Pogba fails Serie A doping test, set to be banned

Four years later, the Red Devils brought him back to Old Trafford at the age of 23 for a then-world-record fee of £89m.

It was hoped that Pogba would be the man to make Man Utd the dominant side in England and beyond once again after three miserable years since Ferguson’s retirement.

One thing that is so important is recruitment and the motto of the culture within a club. At city the hierarchy needed almost 10yrs to set the foundation and finally had Pep as the final piece to their puzzle. For every Ruben Dias there was a Mangala but the City hierarchy had a long-term vision and style of football culture that was gonna define city, mainly also because most of them were already with Pep during the prime Barca era as well.

Here is Why Roy Keane had to leave Manchester United

But now City has a great youth academy that runs through to the first team where all coaches are being made to play a certain way so when they reach the first team, they are already programmed to fit inside the system. Just take Rico as an example. So yea, investment and money for sure but it needs to gel well with the culture and vision of the club.

Manchester United assessing potential Erik ten Hag replacements 👀 Mark Ogden shares details with SportsFila.

The fact that Southgate is on that list tells how serious you should take it

No manager on earth could do anything with Manchester United until Someone takes responsibility for the club and has a viable plan for the future.

Manchester Derby PREDICTIONS By SportsFila: Man Utd vs City

Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his INEOS group, the club’s new partial owners, are exploring options to assume the role. According to Team Talk, the Red Devils are considering the 41-year-old as a candidate for the manager position.

After achieving success as a player with Barcelona, Inter, and Paris Saint-Germain, winning numerous titles, the two-time Champions League winner transitioned to coaching at the senior level.

ESPN loves ManUtd. As much they say that they hate talking about ManUtd they can’t stop talking about ManUtd 😅😅. They have spend 15 mins speaking on rumours – Hypocrites.

Sack Ten Hag Now: Man Utd Fan Makes Bold Claim

It’s not Ten Hag fault when players like rashford do not put in all the effort after signing a new contract. Also ten hag had to deal with incredible amount of injuries which ESPN deliberately overlooks. So getting another manager isn’t going to solve anything.

It’s so funny how the English media fails to realize that the structure & the players is the problem at united…..but they trying to sack ETH who is an elite manger under a proper management structure 💯

The best manager that seems to be being overlooked shouod be n1 on the list for bayern utd liverpool is someone inzaghi. Hes done great things with Lazio and inter. Loads of experience and has got to european finals and won domestic leagues.

Manchester City 3-1 win over United in Manchester Derby.

It is very different getting an underdog /dark horse to perform vs going to an environment where the spotlight in on you everyday from day 1. The same thing happened at Bayern with a couple of their coaches…

Afcon 2024 victory is well deserved for Ivory Coast they left no stone unturned and they dominated throughout. If there is a one person who deserved to win the AFCON it was Sebastian Haller. In 2022, he was diagnosed with cancer but he recovered and he returned to play football in 2023 only to bottle the Bundesliga title on the final matchday to Bayern but here we are in 2024 where he scored the winner in the AFCON final to win Cote d’Ivoire AFCON title so congratulations🇨🇮🇨🇮🇨🇮🇨🇮🏆

Brazil Antony fulfill his potential at Manchester United?

FT: Nigeria 1-2 Ivory Coast

Afcon 2023 is over. What a remarkable end to a tournament dripping in drama.

Thanks for your company, SportsFila.com.

The night has only just started in Abidjan.

But Ivory Coast won fair and square. They played better. Congratulations champs.

What Adingra did in the African Cup of Nation was phenomenal. Nigerians will remember him as a nighmare forever. The boy has a great future ahead of him.

Why Biased Ten Hag Cannot Discipline Rashford Like Sancho

Haller beats cancer, then comes to the AFCON and scores the most important goal in the final, the winning goal what a beautiful story for that man and Ivory coast, congratulations to them👏👏

Congratulations to Ivory Coast from cameroonian👏👏👏you organized and won the most beautiful AFCON in story, unbelievable achievment when we look how things went for you.

One of the best tournaments I’ve seen.
Almost every team demonstrated that they were not afraid of their opponent and played above expectations.
Congratulations to Côte d’Ivoire who never gave up and believed and implemented their progress towards goal as much as possible until the last second in this tournament. Kudos to Nigeria for high yield and quality.
Thank you for making the spectators so emotional and congratulations and best wishes to the Ivory Coast and the Ivorian people.

Congratulations to Ivory Coast for winning the Africa Cup🏆! The team showed strength and desire to win and to not give up until the end. And the fans were absolutely amazing
P.s Haller deserved it the most, since he suffered a lot.

The story of Côte d’Ivoire’s victory in the African Nations is one of the most beautiful stories in the history of football. We sympathized with this team’s version a lot and we will tell it to our children in the future 🧡

Kobbie Mainoo is very coachable, says ten Hag

Published

on

‘He’s very coachable, he wants to learn, to improve every day’ |SportsFila can feel the meaning of a ‘coachable player that wants to improve every day’. Because ETH has to deal with players that are not like this at all.

remember at Ajax TH once said “a process takes time, but by throwing in young players in big games that process gets accelerated”. Always stuck with me considering he let Mainoo debut against Everton (after the 10 point deduction at an intense Goodison Park) and then straight into the Galatasaray away game in the CL. H

He also has done the same with Garnacho last year and this year. Then he did the same with Pellistri against Bayern Munich who in my opinion did well enough to deserve another chance. I think it’s a way for him to see how they respond to the pressure and intensity. He’s not afraid to play the youngsters ONLY if he considers them good and fearless enough.

Why Roma loved and sacked Jose Mourinho

He made De Ligt Ajax captain at 18 years old because he saw leadership qualities. He has his own methods, but I’m convinced he knows exactly what he’s doing regarding the future of United. United fans need to remember 75% of this current squad won’t be part of the future so maybe allow him a bit more time to show what he’s trying to build.

Varane and Sancho could leave Utd/ getty Images/

ETH is a highly resillient manager to go through all the crisis and egos, poor performances, players personal issues and ownership drama and come out on the other side with these kind of performances. He brought in the right striker young full of potential and work ethic. Young players are starring in the squad WE ARE ON THE WAY.

Jadon Sancho Will REGRET His Behaviour At Man United

All the instability across the club that he’s gone through and still kept us in the Top 8. Now he’s finally seeing the other side of the drawn-out “club sale, no-sale”, multiple injuries, media controversies, spoiled players, and all the other nonsense, we see the team moving into sixth position. The man deserves all the praise in the world for being so resilient.

It’s interesting hearing ten hag speaking on rashford because he mentions a lot of qualities which he possesses, however they are all physical and technical, the one thing he didn’t speak positively about was his mentality and for me this is what has always separated Rashford from the very best.

In football and sport as a whole mentality is the one thing you need more than anything, it’s what separates the good from the great and I don’t know if rashford has that real hunger and desire in him to be great. The kind of desire where you’re willing to get hurt to score a goal.
