Manager Erik ten Hag has identified a new centre forward among his top priorities, with Tottenham’s Harry Kane and Napoli’s Victor Osimhen initially targeted. United were priced out of signing both players but have now turned their attention to Hojlund, who has also been on their radar for some time.

Still only 20, Hojlund only joined Atalanta last August from Austrian outfit Sturm Graz. He hit nine goals in his debut Serie A season and has also made his senior international debut for Denmark over the last year, scoring five times in six caps to date.
The young man has talent, but is raw and still about 3-4 years away from reaching his peak. He needs to go to a club where he will be allowed that patience. He will NOT be allowed that patience at United. He will be expected to produce within a year and if he doesn’t then the pressure will mount and any number of players have had their careers ruined by making the move to the big highly pressurized impatient club, too soon. Their development is rushed, they don’t produce, they lose confidence and never come close to fulfilling their full potential.

Rasmus Hojlund is an incredible talent, I’ve seen some similarities between him and Erling Haaland, the way both of them play they have similar styles. Last season he scored 10 goals which is great for a 20 year old striker because he still has room for improvement and he isn’t the finished article yet. He’s great for the long term project at Manchester United, but will they go for a player for a lot of money that’s not proven and experienced enough at this level.
Hojlund has previously admitted he is a United fan, saying earlier this year: “I will not hide the fact that I am a huge Man Utd fan. So, personally, [playing for them] would be one of the biggest things for me.”

Apart from Man Utd, Juventus and Napoli are also interested in signing Hojlund.
As well as the deal for Mount, United are looking to address their goalkeeping situation this summer having seen David de Gea’s contract expire last Friday. The Spaniard is still considering an offer to extend his stay, but there are doubts over his status as long-term number one.
United have been interested in Inter’s Andre Onana to replace him, while Feyenoord’s Justin Bijlow has also been considered.
They need to sign a striker, because they cannot sign Harry Kane or Victor Osimhen, both of them are too expensive and right now they believe that they can sign Rasmus Hojlund and he’s promising and he’s still raw, you’re paying lots of money for a guy who’s inexperienced in European football to lead the line for Manchester United and he scored 10 goals last season, is he really ready for a club of the caliber of Manchester United. They might as well sign him because I don’t want them going for another Wout Weghorst and since other options are too expensive they believe he’s their best alternative option on the market.
As a united fan, we really need him. Not only because he is raw good talent but he can improve. But he is not missing puzzle piece. We need actually 2 strikers to even compete. We need another defensive minded midfielder. Our midfield is too attacking that makes it hard to play away from home.

ETH is a highly resillient manager to go through all the crisis and egos, poor performances, players personal issues and ownership drama and come out on the other side with these kind of performances. He brought in the right striker young full of potential and work ethic. Young players are starring in the squad WE ARE ON THE WAY.

The man deserves all the praise in the world for being so resilient.
It’s interesting hearing ten hag speaking on rashford because he mentions a lot of qualities which he possesses, however they are all physical and technical, the one thing he didn’t speak positively about was his mentality and for me this is what has always separated Rashford from the very best.
In football and sport as a whole mentality is the one thing you need more than anything, it’s what separates the good from the great and I don’t know if rashford has that real hunger and desire in him to be great. The kind of desire where you’re willing to get hurt to score a goal.
