Was Kane choosing Bayern Over Man Utd the right decision?
Completely understand that Kane did show his love for Spurs by ensuring they got a decent fee and that he didn’t go to a PL rival like Manchester United.
According to The Athletic, Man United learned relatively early on that a deal for Kane would be difficult, despite Ten Hag’s preference emerging back in April. There was reportedly a fear that any delays on Kane might distract from other transfer business.
As it is, United completed three big-money deals of their own before Kane was announced as a Bayern player. Mason Mount was the first to arrive, with Andre Onana following soon after, while United turned to Rasmus Hojlund in an effort to solve their problems up front.
Last summer’s De Jong saga showed how costly slow business can be, with United losing their first two league games while continuing to push for the midfielder. They eventually recovered after picking up Casemiro, but it has been suggested a fear of a repeat helped shape the club’s approach this time around.

Show of respect both ways – Kane showed respect by giving Spurs a chance to recover a decent transfer fee rather done do “Mbappe” on them, Bayern rather than trying to sign Kane for free a year later, offered Spurs a transfer fee which some might say an overpay given Kane only has a year left on contract. It’s interesting hearing ten hag speaking on rashford because he mentions a lot of qualities which he possesses, however they are all physical and technical, the one thing he didn’t speak positively about was his mentality and for me this is what has always separated Rashford from the very best.
In football and sport as a whole mentality is the one thing you need more than anything, it’s what separates the good from the great and I don’t know if rashford has that real hunger and desire in him to be great. The kind of desire where you’re willing to get hurt to score a goal.
