So, Does Lionel Messi’s 7th Ballon d’Or Victory Make Him the GOAT over Cristiano Ronaldo? Greatness isn’t determined by a player’s number of Ballon d’Ors or era. It’s determined by what you’ve done in the sport. Have you created unforgettable moments? Have you won the majority of the biggest international and club trophies?
Have you cemented yourself as an icon? Have you absolutely dominated your era? In Messi’s case, he’s done all of those. The only players comparable are Maradona and Ronaldo.
We just got used to seeing Messi doing great stuff and feels that they are normal…
The performance Messi put in Copa is enough to cement any other players legacy in the podium of greatness… People are talking about Lewandowski’s achievements of breaking Gerd Muller’s record but they are not saying that Messi broke Pele’s record of being the highest scorer in South American football history…. A history that includes, Pele, Maradona, Ronaldo (R9), Romario, Rivaldo, Ronaldinho, Aguero, Forlan, Suarez and many many more….But just because he’s Messi, we are just ignoring it because it seems normal… He is, was and always will be one of the greatest players ever to play football..
Messi has been putting up these numbers for years, and just because they have dropped slightly over the past year doesn’t mean any old guy is better than him. People saying Lewy should have won it, I totally get. He put up ridiculous numbers, but outside of goals, Messi was ahead in pretty much every other category.
I think this new generation will undoubtedly say that MESSI is the GOAT ..but older generations will lean towards MARADONA as the goat.

If I need a good a player in my team..Messi would be the first by miles.. We’re talking of a player that can decide the fate of a game..What is special about haaland and Mbappe? How consistent can they be?.. Lewandowski would also be there in the attack..Jorginho won’t be in my midfield, there are tons of players better than him.. People should respect Messi and Ronaldo cuz they are the standard of modern day football…
What Messi said is true, Lewandowski should’ve been awarded one in the year of 2020 given there were no possible contenders in his path to quench it. I however do not believe a robbery took place, both honestly deserved to win it, but Messi was in the complete righteous lane to have won it.
I loved Maradona and Pele when I was a kid, but one thing that nobody mentions, is just how much the game has evolved. If you actually go and watch Maradona play, especially some of his highlight moments, a lot of the time, the defenders/opponents do NOT look organised in the slightest! They look slow, lethargic, and most of them are genuinely jogging half the time. Yes, he definitely had to put up with more rough treatment than Messi ever did – BUT – space is everything, man. If you’re a player like Messi or Maradona, you want space (even if you’re amazing in tight spaces).
Messi has far, far less space to work with, which is why I don’t think they’re really comparable. I think Messi would have been just as good back then, and I think Maradona would have been good now. but for example in a world cup, I don’t think there’s any way he could play the way he did back then and actually get through a full team. The game has evolved – it’s far more organised, MUCH faster paced, and generally just makes it extremely difficult for individuality to shine/make a difference.
All this being said – I’d still have Maradona, Messi, and Ronaldo as my top 3 legends, though I don’t know in which order.

I have been saying this for weeks now. If United were under any other manager especially Southgate, they would be fighting for relegation right now. The problem at United is not Ten Hag but the players.
People keep saying that Ten Hag’s style of football at United is not attractive and no identity but there is so much that a manager can do if the players themselves are not good enough or not putting enough effort. Ten Hag’s Ajax were playing attractive football and he managed to get them to the SF of the CL.
Without him, look at Ajax now. And the media keep pushing their agenda to get Ten Hag sack and replace him with a much worse manager like Southgate. If Ten Hag is managing England right now, with the players they have, we won’t see such a passive football like we saw yesterday vs Brazil. Ask Liverpool fans, would they replace Klopp with Southgate? I rest my case.

Liverpool only have themselves to blame for loss to Manchester United. Had to find a way to squeeze in the random Bruno slag off in between. Dude was dead on his feet at full time, and had to slot in to center back for the last 30 minutes.

More shots, same shots on goal, higher goal expectancy. What is this narrative that Liverpool should have put this game away, if anything we should’ve put this game away! They had a good 20, 25 minute stint where they kept the ball in the second half, but did nothing with it, we deservedly won this game.

For Liverpool fans: don’t say that we lost to Manchester United because Jota Trent Alisson and jones didn’t play. We have to stop doing that every time a team loses a big game it’s very stupid because had you won, you wouldn’t be saying that. Don’t forget that when y’all drew 0-0 to them at home Trent Alisson and Jones started. Keep in mind how well they’ve been playing despite having lots of injuries they almost beat Manchester City’s full strength squad last week.
Also, you lose to Manchester United, 2 fringe players for them decided the game for them, Liverpool didn’t play well and a loss is a loss you have to accept it otherwise you’re a sole loser and are unwilling to take it.
It’s interesting how nothing much is said about the mistakes made by Liverpool, but all criticism is piled on Bruno; how supposedly poor he was.

Most fans want ETH out because of his poor tactics and substitutions. I also felt he should be braver to drop non-performing players irrespective of names, and even play academy players if he has to.
Now I’m ETH in because I realise from Rooney’s and Ole’s recent interviews that the mentality of these players are incredibly low and it’s no longer just speculation that the players can’t cope on this stage.
I can understand ETH saying positive things and coming off as “crazy” but if you have players who are weak minded and aren’t willing to fight, you can’t be tough cos they’ll cave and where does that leave you for the rest of the season?! Jason Sancho case in point. I rather come across as insane to the media but hope that I’m lifting the team enough to get a string of performances to save my job and give the fans at least something to cheer about until I can have a summer clear out.
Keane is a freaking legend but that approach with these weak players will kill them and ETH would lose the dressing room.
