It’s All-Star Weekend in Oakland, and the Media Day buzz is heavy with predictions and playful banter. The burning question on everyone’s minds? Who would dominate a hypothetical 1-on-1 tournament among the league’s best? Kevin Durant has some thoughts on that!
The 1-on-1 Showdown Everyone is Talking About
Fresh off her 1-on-1 victory in the Unrivaled League, Napheesa Collier has sparked discussions about a similar event at the All-Star Weekend. The air is thick with competitive spirit as some of the NBA’s biggest stars gathered to share their takes.
“I’d bet on myself, for sure,” Durant chimed in. “But there are a ton of great 1-on-1 players in the league. It’s tough to predict who’d come out on top. If forced to pick one, I’d go with Wemby or Tatum. Those guys are athletic and long. There are many players who would put on a show in a 1-on-1 setting. It would be a fantastic addition to the All-Star Weekend.”
Edwards Backs KD as the Ultimate Challenger
Joining the fray is Anthony Edwards, the explosive young star who doesn’t hesitate to call out his endorsement for Durant. Ant-Man laid out the reasons he thinks KD would take home the win in a 1-on-1 showdown.
“Every shot he takes is a good shot. For me, if I’m off-balance, I know it’s a bad shot because I’m not used to that position—I need to be comfortable to shoot effectively,” Edwards explained. “But KD is cool no matter the shot he takes, even in those awkward positions. He turns every shot into a good look. I don’t know how he does it, but I saw it firsthand in the Olympics and during playoff games. So yeah, it’s definitely him (that would win),” Edwards concluded.
The Favorites for the 1-on-1 Crown
Standing at 6’11” with the agility of a guard and the shooting touch of a sniper, Kevin Durant is undoubtedly a top contender for a 1-on-1 tournament at the All-Star Weekend. Other strong candidates thrown into the mix include Kyrie Irving, Stephen Curry, and LeBron James—all capable of lighting up the court.
Your Pick: Who Would You Bet On?
So the question remains: who’s your pick? Are you with KD or do you have another player in mind? Let the debates begin!
