Ten Hag Shortlists 3 Goalkeepers to Replace David De Gea

Erik Ten Hag Shortlists 3 Goalkeepers to Replace David De Gea at Manchester United.

According to GiveMeSport, De Gea is not ready to accept a pay cut, which means that the club are now looking at three options to replace him: Valencia’s Girogi Mamardashvili, Porto’s Diogo Costa and Brentford’s David Raya.

With Valencia struggling in La Liga right now and in danger of a shock relegation, Mamardashvili could well be bought for far less than his value, which is estimated at around £45 million. Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur both want the Georgian, too.

De Gea is still in his prime, but Sportsfila.com feels Manchester United will not renew his deal for 375k pounds per week. No one would pay that amount for a 32 year old goalie. If he wants to stay, he must settle for the proposed 200k per week wages.

Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea is to be replaced this summer by one of three options between the sticks.

That’s according to one report that says that the long-serving Spaniard’s time at Old Trafford is coming to an end, following mistakes made during the Europa League defeat to Sevilla last week. De Gea redeemed himself with a display against Brighton & Hove Albion at Wembley in the FA Cup on Sunday – but still didn’t save a single penalty in the shootout.

Erik ten Hag has a lot of problems to solve at Manchester United but arguably the biggest that’s holding back his style of play is goalkeeper David De Gea. United’s number 1 is a traditional shot stopper and is arguably closer in style of play to a 90s keeper than the sweepers that we see in the modern game. The Dutchman has made big calls over this position in the past.

Ajax: Ten Hag signed then, 37 year old, Rem-ko Pass-veer to play in goal over former Dutch International, Maarten Steklenberg. Ten Hag did this because Pasveer was a far better goalkeeper in possession, allowing him to reliably become an 11th outfielder and help Ajax to outnumber the opposition in build up. Unfortunately for David De Gea, this is just not his strength. In fact, since 1st July 2016, De Gea has made the second most errors leading to goals in the Premier League.

De Gea Left Angry as Solskjaer Weighs in On Henderson as No.1 Goalkeeper

Raya has just a year left on his contract and would seem like the smart buy for United, given that they have other targets to acquire across the pitch. The Spaniard is well thought of, however, by rivals, while employers Brentford may look to tie him down to better terms – especially if they qualify for Europe this season.

Costa, meanwhile, has a release clause of around £66m. With Porto unlikely to budge on that, it seems as if the Portuguese may well be a last resort if United fail to negotiate other deals or miss out on targets.

So what are we looking for? First, the goalkeeper needs to be good with the ball at their feet and comfortable under pressure. Statistically speaking this means lots of touches and accurate passes. Next, they need to be comfortable sweeping off their line, enabling a high defensive line. This means lots of defensive actions outside the box and a high average distance for these actions.Being a good shot stopper, so having a high save percentage or over-performing their xG is also important, as well as the ability to stop crosses.

United Eyes Signing Onana to Replace De Gea

One fan told SportsFILA he belives we should go for Diogo costa from fc Porto and portugals number 1 in recent times. Has good distribution good shot stopper good collector of crosses and could improve his sweeping but he is just 23 so could easily improve. He was originally an outfielder so is really good and comfortable with the ball check him out

There are a LOT of goalkeepers just around Europe who could compete with David De Gea and just focusing on players under 25, Man Utd could look at: Islan Meslier from Leeds; Robert Sanchez from Brighton; Dominik Livakovic from Dinamo Zagreb; Yann Sommer from Gladbach; Justin Bijlow from Feyenoord; Florian Muller from Stuttgart; and Maarten Vandevoordt from Genk. But the goalkeepers I rate highly for the role are Marseille’s Pau Lopez; Bochum’s Manuel Riemann; and Brentford’s David Raya.

At 32, De Gea’s current deal ends this summer with the option of another year on the eyewatering £300,000-a-week terms that he signed in 2019. United would ideally like him to lower his wages and see out his deal.

The Spaniard is valued at €15m by Transfermarkt.

I absolutely love de gea, he’s been our saviour many a time, and player of the year several times, sadly I feel like maybe this needs to be his last season with us, only because the goalkeeping position has evolved and we need a keeper who can use his feet and distribution better. I’m not slagging big Dave off tho, he’s been brilliant for us,and I’d wish him all the best, but do feel like we need a change in goal going forward.

Man United Plot £50m Move for David De Gea Replacement Emi Martinez

De Gea has some weaknesses in his game, for sure. But I’d be very careful what I wish for. He saves our bacon SO MANY TIMES. Whatsmore, the Man Utd goalkeeper has to be one of the most challenging positions in world football. Only Schmeichel, Van De Sar, and De Gea have made it their own in my lifetime.

‘Compelling title race a relief for Premier League’

This weekend will be the 10th time that the Premier League title has been decided on the final day of the season.

But rarely before will those in charge of the competition have been so grateful for a captivating conclusion to the campaign.

Liverpool’s challenge ultimately faded, scuppering their fans’ dreams of a triumphant farewell for departing manager Jurgen Klopp and the prospect of an unprecedented three-way battle going the full distance.

But Manchester City or Arsenal will be crowned champions in the final act of what has been a classic duel.

Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal is back to Winning ways

Sunday may not provide the unforgettable drama of 2012’s last day, which saw massive fans’ participation at MT online sportsbooks, when Sergio Aguero’s stoppage-time winner sealed a first Premier League title for City. But whether it ends with a record fourth consecutive title for the champions or a first in 20 years for Arsenal, league bosses, broadcasters and neutrals will have the special finale they hoped for.

Off the field, however, these have been troubled times for the top flight.

The points deductions handed to Everton and Nottingham Forest this season for breaching financial rules have been hugely contentious, the punishments – and subsequent appeals – leading to uncertainty over the league table, resentment by fans and fears that the relegation battle could be decided by the rulings of commission panels.

While both teams have ultimately stayed up, the controversy surrounding the profit and sustainability regulations (PSR) is not going away.

Newly promoted Leicester City have been charged with breaking spending rules when they were in the top flight (and are now taking legal action against the league), while Chelsea have also been under investigation.

And 16 months after City were charged with more than a hundred rule breaches, a hearing in their case is not thought to be scheduled until the autumn, contributing to the mounting scrutiny of the league’s governance and processes.

While City deny wrongdoing, a sixth league triumph in seven years would only intensify questions over the fairness of how they assembled their squad over several seasons, the time the case has taken, and whether the club’s wealth has distorted the competitiveness of the league, alongside admiration for the team and their coach.

Meanwhile, a split has emerged between clubs over plans to introduce a new spending cap, and the Premier League is facing the threat of more legal action from one of its members over amended rules around associated party transactions.

As if all that was not enough to contend with, the league’s chief executive Richard Masters has also warned of the “unintended consequences” of the forthcoming independent football regulator, amid mounting criticism of the failure by his clubs to agree a new financial settlement with the English Football League (EFL).

The Premier League is also known to be deeply concerned about the increasingly congested calendar, with Masters recently warning of a “tipping point”, after criticism following the scrapping of FA Cup replays. The league has also admitted that the VAR system must improve after a series of controversies.

With the title race going right to the wire, Sunday’s final-day drama will provide a welcome distraction from such matters for Masters and his colleagues – but, one suspects, only a temporary one.

Clock ticking for Commonwealth Games

A few weeks ago in Birmingham, Katie Sadleir, the head of the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF), told me that any further delay beyond May in announcing a host for the 2026 event would be “very problematic”.

Since then Glasgow has emerged as a possible back-up option if no replacement is found for Victoria in Australia, which pulled out last year, plunging the event into crisis.

But there has still been no official announcement by the CGF.

Insiders claim they remain hopeful a host will be confirmed in the next two weeks, but the clock is ticking.

Super League heading stateside?

The National Rugby League (NRL) season kicked off in the US for the first time in March, with a Premiership double-header staged at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas as part of a multi-year deal designed to grow the sport in the US.

So could Super League clubs follow suit?

Talks have taken place over the Club World Challenge being staged in the US, and some Super League bosses are keen on regular season matches being part of the tie-up too.

Wigan and Warrington played each other in Milwaukee 35 years ago, albeit as an exhibition match. And with rugby league currently ‘re-imagining’ itself as part of a 12-year deal with agency IMG intended to boost its appeal, anything seems possible.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his INEOS group, the club’s new partial owners, are exploring options to assume the role. According to Team Talk, the Red Devils are considering the 41-year-old as a candidate for the manager position.

After achieving success as a player with Barcelona, Inter, and Paris Saint-Germain, winning numerous titles, the two-time Champions League winner transitioned to coaching at the senior level.

Sack Ten Hag Now: Man Utd Fan Makes Bold Claim

It’s not Ten Hag fault when players like rashford do not put in all the effort after signing a new contract. Also ten hag had to deal with incredible amount of injuries which ESPN deliberately overlooks. So getting another manager isn’t going to solve anything.

It’s so funny how the English media fails to realize that the structure & the players is the problem at united…..but they trying to sack ETH who is an elite manger under a proper management structure 💯

The best manager that seems to be being overlooked shouod be n1 on the list for bayern utd liverpool is someone inzaghi. Hes done great things with Lazio and inter. Loads of experience and has got to european finals and won domestic leagues.

It is very different getting an underdog /dark horse to perform vs going to an environment where the spotlight in on you everyday from day 1. The same thing happened at Bayern with a couple of their coaches…
