What happened to Jesse Lingard career?
As a free agent, Lingard can get a club, even in the PL as currently constituted. He just has to lower his demands and expectations because sometimes life comes at you like that and you gotta humble yourself to get another shot. What happened to Jesse Lingard’s football career.
Him not joining West Ham was a tad bit odd and coming to know that they were interested and turned it down was just bluntly disappointing. He gelled so well with the hammers and I can’t help but think he’s a bit problematic.
Lingard can get a club, even in the PL as currently constituted. He just has to lower his demands and expectations because sometimes life comes at you like that and you gotta humble yourself to get another shot.
The Lingard case is a perfect example of poor representation and lack of seriousness:
1. Poor representation: Lingard’s agent / brother manages him or atleast used to during his last years at United. When he came back from his super successful West Ham loan, United were ready to sanction a sale. There were suitors too – West Ham were interested among other PL clubs and I believe Lingard was ready to go back. His minders however, kept telling him he was undervalued i.e. needed to be paid more (like over 100k a week) and potentially deserved Champions League football.
That seems a bit much for someone who just had a good 4-month spell (you need consistency). The agent also went on record saying that with 1-yr left on his contract “they held all the chips”. That is quite ridiculous – so much talent out there and you don’t hold chips when you’ve had the stop-start career Lingard has. So, they squandered that opportunity and he sat on the bench. Even in Jan, they wanted United to send him on loan / release him so they could get a better pay day from a club not having to pay transfer fees.
Why would United agree to these demands – and they ended up keeping him after the Greenwood news. 6-months on, he was a free agent and there were a lot of suitors – but his value had diminished since he’d been a benchwarmer for a year. Again, his representation over valued him – turned down multi-year contracts from good clubs because they wanted crazy money. They would get crazy money (>100k a week) ONLY from Forest and it was a one year.
Why would you sign a one-year deal as a 30yr-old when you have clubs like Newcastle, Fulham offering multi-year contracts. Yes, lower pay but more stable clubs (remember Forest were just promoted and signed ~15 players that summer). Again – bad representation. Clearly more money turned out to be less money in the long-term – he is now without a contract.
2. Lack of seriousness: Players cannot choose to turn up when they want to. It’s about consistency and working hard all the time. You can’t work hard for a few months and live off that. He’s been late to training, faked minor injuries and his time on social media is shockingly high – nope, not some PR company doing social stuff, Lingard himself spends a lot of time on YouTube and IG. Maybe being friends with the wrong folks – Pogba, Sancho etc., impacted him, but as a serious footballer, you got to be ‘ON’ all the time.
De Bruyne, Fernandes – players he was compared to during his West Ham spell – compare their seriousness for football to Lingard. Have you seen them post prank videos with teammates. Lingard also annoyed United pushing for them to give him some YouTube exclusivity for content – again, another sign of non-seriousness from a footballing standpoint.
a lot of talent, I really wish he had channeled it better or atleast had the right minders to advise to focus on what’s important. I am hearing Rashford has similar minders not giving him the best advise. Sad!

Afcon 2024 victory is well deserved for Ivory Coast they left no stone unturned and they dominated throughout. If there is a one person who deserved to win the AFCON it was Sebastian Haller. In 2022, he was diagnosed with cancer but he recovered and he returned to play football in 2023 only to bottle the Bundesliga title on the final matchday to Bayern but here we are in 2024 where he scored the winner in the AFCON final to win Cote d’Ivoire AFCON title so congratulations🇨🇮🇨🇮🇨🇮🇨🇮🏆

Always stuck with me considering he let Mainoo debut against Everton (after the 10 point deduction at an intense Goodison Park) and then straight into the Galatasaray away game in the CL. H
He also has done the same with Garnacho last year and this year. Then he did the same with Pellistri against Bayern Munich who in my opinion did well enough to deserve another chance. I think it’s a way for him to see how they respond to the pressure and intensity. He’s not afraid to play the youngsters ONLY if he considers them good and fearless enough.

ETH is a highly resillient manager to go through all the crisis and egos, poor performances, players personal issues and ownership drama and come out on the other side with these kind of performances. He brought in the right striker young full of potential and work ethic. Young players are starring in the squad WE ARE ON THE WAY.

All the instability across the club that he’s gone through and still kept us in the Top 8. Now he’s finally seeing the other side of the drawn-out “club sale, no-sale”, multiple injuries, media controversies, spoiled players, and all the other nonsense, we see the team moving into sixth position. The man deserves all the praise in the world for being so resilient.
It’s interesting hearing ten hag speaking on rashford because he mentions a lot of qualities which he possesses, however they are all physical and technical, the one thing he didn’t speak positively about was his mentality and for me this is what has always separated Rashford from the very best.
In football and sport as a whole mentality is the one thing you need more than anything, it’s what separates the good from the great and I don’t know if rashford has that real hunger and desire in him to be great. The kind of desire where you’re willing to get hurt to score a goal.
